Storytelling & Themed Activity Camps
I design every camp as a journey into a new world, blending interactive storytelling with sensory play and upcycled crafts. It is about creating a space where your child can explore, imagine, and grow at their own pace.
Here is author Ashok Rajagopalan teaching the children how to sketch his famous character, Gajapati Kulapati. Our special author events bridge the gap between reading a story and meeting the person who created it.
The children were so inspired by the 'Gajapati Kulapati' story that they created their own elephant-themed art. This is a perfect example of how a great story can spark a wave of creativity.
Our story play weeks are magical. We dive into books from beloved authors and then extend the story through activities, like this sensory bin inspired by an ocean tale and colorful boats from another adventure.
This is a recap of our summer camp themes, from Colors and Ocean life to Food and Transport. Each week brought new stories, new materials to explore like this yellow oobleck, and new skills to learn.
Our Ocean Life week was full of discovery. We explored different sea creatures, learned about their habitats, and created beautiful ocean-themed art like this little girl's jellyfish creation.
We read "The Rainbow Fish" and then explored the themes of sharing and friendship through a rainbow rice sensory bin and by making our own sparkling fish. Connecting literature to hands-on activities helps children understand complex social-emotional concepts.
During our exploration of coral reefs, we used sponges and playdough to create our own vibrant reef structures. This activity helps develop fine motor skills while teaching children about these important underwater ecosystems.
Our "Flora" theme was all about exploring the world of plants. From tiny babies exploring the texture of leaves to older children creating large-scale art, it was a week of connecting with nature.
During our Flora week, we used spinach leaves for chlorophyll painting. This activity is a simple and fun science experiment, showing children how plants contain color in a very direct and hands-on way.
For our "Food" theme, we explored pretend fruits and vegetables in a sensory bin and crafted our own carrots from paper. These activities help build vocabulary and a positive relationship with food.
About Storytelling & Themed Camps
When you drop your child off at our JP Nagar space, you are not just leaving them in a classroom. I focus on creating a smooth transition from quiet listening during our storytelling circles to high-energy, hands-on sensory exploration. We use every session to let children process the story through their own creative lens, whether that means building train tracks, painting with recycled sponges, or experimenting with textures like oobleck.
How We Learn Through Play
My camps for children aged 6 months to 7 years are built on the belief that children learn best when they are active participants, not just observers. We run mixed-age sessions because I see how toddlers learn naturally from older children, and how older kids gain confidence by helping their younger peers.
The Daily Flow
Each camp week follows a progressive structure. We start with a book or a tale to set the theme, then move into:
- Sensory Play: We use varied materials like colored rice, shaving foam, and chia seed slime to build fine motor skills and tactile awareness.
- Upcycled Art: I am passionate about sustainability. We frequently turn egg cartons, cardboard, and leaves into masterpieces, teaching kids that creativity does not require expensive supplies.
- Movement & Music: We integrate yoga, dance, and simple exercises to help kids channel their energy and develop gross motor skills.
Why Choose Our Camps?
If you are worried about the cleanup or the chaos, do not be. I handle all the setup and the mess so you can focus on the bonding. Whether it is an Ocean Life week, a Transport theme, or a festival-based workshop like Durga Puja, the goal is simple. I want your child to leave with a craft they made, a story they loved, and the confidence to try something new. Our JP Nagar studio is ventilated, safe, and ready for your little one to dive into their next adventure.
Doe A Dear
I am the founder of Doe a Dear, and I believe childhood should be messy and imaginative. I love watching children discover potential in everyday waste and seeing the pride in their eyes when they finish a project we worked on together.
