Behind the Decks: My Technical Style and Process
Getting a packed dance floor is not about luck. It is about years of preparation, reading the energy of the room, and knowing exactly when to drop the next track. Here is a look at what happens behind the console.
A view from behind the console during a set. This perspective shows the DJ at work, focused on the mix, with the vibrant club atmosphere in the background.
Another shot from behind the decks, this time at Iron Hill Brewery. It captures the moment of concentration right before dropping a new track.

About this collection
When I am behind the decks, it is not just about hitting play. I am constantly watching the room, analyzing how you react to a Bollywood remix or when the energy shifts toward hip-hop. I use a standard Pioneer CDJ 2000 or 3000 setup because reliability is non-negotiable for me, but the real technical work happens on my laptop, where I keep my music library organized by tempo and energy. This allows me to jump between genres like EDM and retro hits without ever killing the vibe.
Mastering the flow of a party is my obsession. Whether I am playing at Iron Hill Brewery or a festival stage, my goal is the same: no gaps, no awkward pauses, just pure momentum. I treat every set like a live conversation with the audience. If the crowd needs a 90s throwback to get moving, that is where we go. If they are ready for a high-octane Bollywood remix, I pivot immediately.
This is why I stick to the industry standard Pioneer CDJ 2000 or 3000 NXS2 setups. They allow for the precision beat-matching and looping I need to blend disparate tracks seamlessly. For my VDJ sets, I run Serato Video and Rekordbox, syncing high-definition visuals live. It is an extra layer of complexity, but it transforms a music set into a full sensory experience. I do not just stand there and nod; I am actively monitoring the sound levels, cueing tracks, and MCing to keep the hype real. Whether it is a private party in Mysore or a club night in Bangalore, I show up with my redundancy drives and a professional mindset so that even if tech fails, the party never does.
Abi
I am Abi, and I believe the best parties happen when the music flows exactly where the crowd takes it. When I am not behind the console at a club or festival, I am usually at home with my wife and daughter. They keep me grounded so I can bring full energy to your event.
