About this collection
Forget pre-recorded playlists that drag on. When I am behind the decks, I am reading the room in real-time, blending Afro beats, Hip Hop, and Kannada hits based on how the crowd is moving. My setup includes pro Pioneer gear and, more importantly, a focus on live scratching and beat juggling to keep the energy spike high from the first track to the last.
My Approach to the Dancefloor
I don’t just hit play. My sets are open-format, which means I adapt to the vibe of the event. If the crowd needs a 90s retro nostalgia trip, I have the classics ready. If it is a high-octane corporate night, I am dropping Afrobeats, Melodic House, or hard-hitting Hip Hop. I mix live, using beat juggling and scratching to transition between tracks so the energy never drops.
The Technical Side
- Gear: For smaller events, I travel with my MacBook Pro and professional Pioneer DDJ controller. For large-scale corporate nights or weddings, I am comfortable hopping on a venue’s Pioneer CDJ 3000s or Technics turntables.
- Planning: I don’t show up blind. We will have a pre-event call to finalize the ‘Do and Don’t’ lists. You tell me the vibe—whether it is a sophisticated sundowner or a rager—and I build the sonic flow around that.
Where I Have Played
I am a Bangalore regular. From residencies at Kitty Ko and Taj MG Road to pumping up the crowd at Gawky Goose and Pangeo, I know how the city parties. I have also handled destination weddings in Thailand and Kerala, so I know how to adapt my setup to fit any venue, whether it is a poolside brunch or a grand ballroom.
