About Statement Jackets & Indo-Western Wear
When you are wearing an embroidered jacket, the weight and drape matter. I use a half-canvas internal build to ensure the silhouette stays crisp, and I add a full torso lining so you are not scratched by the embroidery threads. It is about feeling as sharp as you look.
I take traditional silhouettes and flip them. Think of the structure of a classic tuxedo jacket, but paired with the fierce, detailed embroidery you would usually see on regal Indian wear. My process starts with choosing fabrics like matte Italian suiting or premium micro-velvet. For the winter wedding season, velvet is my go-to because it captures light well and holds heavy thread work without sagging.
The construction is the key to that feeling of power. My jackets feature shoulder pads and chest canvas fusing to keep the shape rigid, even under the weight of detailed motifs. Whether it is a tiger motif for a sangeet or subtle geometric patterns for a formal reception, the embroidery is placed intentionally to broaden your frame.
