About Boutique Hillside Architecture
Designing for a hill is not about clearing the slope, it is about working with it. When we take on a hillside project, we prioritize step-foundations to keep the structural integrity high while minimizing site disruption. This keeps your home safe in seismic zones without compromising on the panoramic views you moved there for.
Building in the hills requires a different set of rules than building in the city. Our approach to hill architecture focuses on three pillars: terrain integration, structural safety, and material honesty.
Working with the Terrain
Instead of cutting into the slope and risking soil erosion, we utilize step-foundations. This allows the building to sit naturally on the mountain, creating organic, multi-level structures that look like they belong in the landscape rather than on top of it.
Built for the Mountains
We prioritize structural safety for high-seismic zones. Our technical plans include detailed MEP layouts tailored for hills, such as water tank placement for gravity-fed systems and heating solutions. We specify local materials like stone, Cedar, and Pine, which age beautifully and handle the local climate better than imported alternatives.
Nature-Inspired Interiors
Luxury in the hills is about the connection to the outdoors. We use design features like vaulted ceilings with skylights, large glass panes, and indoor pool areas that frame the forest canopy. Whether you are building a boutique retreat in Bhowali or a private vacation home, we offer periodic site supervision to ensure the design is executed faithfully, regardless of the terrain difficulty.
