Materiality and Craftsmanship in Interior Architecture
We define space through the tactile reality of materials. Our approach treats construction as a dialogue between texture, light, and geometry, ensuring every element serves a precise architectural intent.
A bar fronted by a Gabion wall, where we trapped stones in wire mesh to create a raw, Brutalist texture.
A close-up of a copper cuboid wedged into a terrazzo panel, a detail that exemplifies our use of angular forms and contrasting materials.
A partition made of frosted solid glass bricks, which refracts light to create an intriguing soft glow and separates the entrance from the bar.
A bathroom clad entirely in Statuario marble, showcasing the material's dramatic veining and our ability to create monolithic forms.
A study featuring custom floor-to-ceiling shelving and a desk crafted from warm Oak veneer, creating a cozy and immersive workspace.
A bathroom where terrazzo covers every surface, including the custom-formed sink, demonstrating a commitment to a unified material palette.
A long, curving partition made of vertical wooden slats, which elegantly divides the living and dining spaces while maintaining a sense of openness.
About this collection
Our design language relies on a curated monochrome palette where the texture of the material, be it Statuario marble, porous lime plaster, or warm oak, provides the necessary depth. We prioritize custom fabrication, such as Gabion wall features and curved slatted partitions, to ensure that the architecture is not merely applied to the surface but is integral to the structural integrity of your space.
Architecture is, at its core, an exercise in material honesty. We move beyond cosmetic decoration to explore the inherent qualities of raw inputs. When we work with Gabion walls or cast-in-situ terrazzo, we are engaging with the material's structural nature to create a rhythm within the room. This process requires a shift from standard interior practices to a more rigorous, fabrication-led methodology.
The Monochrome Palette
Our commitment to a monochrome palette serves to highlight light and shadow. By limiting the color spectrum, we allow the viewer to focus on the interplay of surfaces. Whether it is the cold precision of Ceppo De Gre stone or the softness of lime plaster, each material is selected for how it interacts with ambient light. This is not about minimalism for the sake of austerity, but about controlling the visual noise to prioritize the spatial diagram.
Custom Fabrication and Spatial Logic
We view partitions and ceilings as active architectural components rather than static dividers. Our use of curved slatted timber or frosted glass brick is designed to filter light and movement, creating transitions that feel fluid. We often employ vaulted ceilings to manipulate the volume of a room, providing a sense of enclosure or expansion depending on the function of the space. Every joinery detail, from floor-to-ceiling wardrobes to floating vanities, is precision-engineered to align with the overarching concept of the project, ensuring that the final execution remains true to our initial vision.
DIG Architects
We are DIG Architects. We operate at the intersection of structural logic and sensory experience, dedicated to crafting environments that invite stillness. For us, a project succeeds only when the material choices and the spatial diagram align to tell a singular, coherent story.
