Our Approach to Mixed-Species Shoots

Photography involving multiple animals, especially different species, is rarely about posing. It is about observation. When we shoot a household with both cats and dogs, we focus on the natural hierarchy and comfort levels of each animal. If the cat wants to perch high or the dog prefers to nap, we follow their lead. This is why we operate as a two-person team. While one of us focuses on composition and lighting, the other acts as a dedicated pet handler. This allows us to keep the environment stress-free and responsive to the animals' needs, rather than focusing on a shot list.
