I give research-based talks and discussions on Delhi’s history, monuments, and heritage, focusing on real evidence and critical analysis instead of just stories.

About

Why I Do This

History isn't just dates or old buildings for me – it's about the stories people don't always see. Main ek itihaskar haan (I am a historian) who loves digging into the 'how' and 'why' behind Delhi's monuments and public spaces. Eh jagah kiven bani, kisne banayi, kyon banayi? (How did these places come about, who made them, why did they get made?) I want to bring these questions out of textbooks and into real conversations.

What You Get

  • Academic history talks with real research, not just surface-level stories.
  • Critical heritage discussions that question how we remember and why.
  • Public monument analysis – exploring the meaning and politics behind Delhi’s memorials, especially around Sikh heritage and the 1984 violence.
  • Urban protest history and the way dissent shapes our city’s spaces.
  • Museum studies events that cover how museums tell stories and shape memory.

How We Work

  • Talks and lectures for universities, cultural spaces, and even corporate events.
  • Panel discussions where I bring an evidence-based voice to complex topics.
  • Curated book discussions on history, heritage, and culture – whether it's my own work or something else that gets people thinking.
  • Flexible formats: in-person, online, or hybrid.

I keep it real and honest. If you want deep dives, a fresh perspective, or just want to challenge what you know about Delhi’s past, I’m here for it.

My Story

Sat Sri Akal, I’m Kanika. I started Delhi Heritage Walks 'cause Delhi’s more than old stones – it’s a living, breathing history book. I dig into how we remember, who decides what gets told, and why some stories get left out. I’ve wandered through Sikh museums, written a book, and spent years poking around archives. Here, we don’t just walk, we question. You’ll see the city with new eyes, promise.

My Work

Guided heritage walks & historical treks - I take groups on deep, critical heritage walks in Delhi, like Jahanpanah ruins and Mehrauli Archaeological Park.

Book discussions & museum talks - We dive into public history books and chat about museum stories, not just listen but debate.

History beyond sightseeing - We use archival data, oral history, and question the usual narratives. Not your average walk.

For curious minds - If you’re a student, historian, or just hungry for real stories, these walks are for you.
