About
Why I Do Heritage Walks
Main Kanika Singh haan, itihaskar (I’m a historian), and I've always seen Delhi not just as a city, but as a living book. For me, every monument is more than stone - it’s conversation, memory, and questions. I want to dig into how history gets written, whose stories get told, and what these spaces mean today, saadi zubaan vich (in our own language).
What Makes My Walks Different
- Led by actual historians and researchers, not just guides
- Stories built from archives, local legends and stories, and academic research
- Interactive history tour - I don’t lecture, we chat, wonder, disagree, and connect past with what Delhi is now
Where We Go
- Journey through Delhi’s eras: Sultanate forts at Mehrauli and Tughlaqabad, Mughal grandeur at Humayun’s Tomb and Shahjahanabad, battlegrounds of 1857 at Kashmiri Gate, and colonial sites like Coronation Park
- Explore places like Tughlaqabad Fort (with its famous curses), Mehrauli Archaeological Park (Balban’s Tomb, Zafar Mahal), and Feroz Shah Kotla (Ashokan pillar and the djinns)
- Sometimes, we mix in food stops for a taste of Old Delhi
What You Should Know
- Walks last about two hours, sometimes more if you get chatty
- Not always easy terrain - comfy shoes recommended especially for uneven grounds
- Anyone curious is welcome - locals, students, history buffs, travellers, or those just wanting a different kind of historical city exploration
History here isn’t about memorizing dates. It’s about seeing, questioning, and connecting. Aa jao, chalo saath (Come, let’s walk together).

My Story
My Work
Guided heritage walks & historical treks - I take groups on deep, critical heritage walks in Delhi, like Jahanpanah ruins and Mehrauli Archaeological Park.
Book discussions & museum talks - We dive into public history books and chat about museum stories, not just listen but debate.
History beyond sightseeing - We use archival data, oral history, and question the usual narratives. Not your average walk.
For curious minds - If you’re a student, historian, or just hungry for real stories, these walks are for you.
