Great dancing is built on a strong foundation. We break down the core movements, rhythm, and body isolation you need to find your groove, one step at a time.

To maintain momentum, keep the elbows up! Here I'm explaining how to use your core to make turns easier and more balanced.

We always end our sessions with a proper cool-down and stretch. It's essential for preventing injuries and improving flexibility.

About Drills, Techniques & Foundations

If you are struggling with turns, it is usually not your feet—it is your core. In our drills, we specifically focus on keeping your elbows up and your core engaged to hold 50% of your weight, which makes spins feel effortless rather than forced. This is the difference between wobbling and moving with total confidence on the dance floor.

Why Foundations Matter

Many people think they have 'two left feet' simply because they skipped the basics. At Delhi Bachata Company, we strip back the noise and focus on what actually makes you a better dancer: rhythm, posture, and weight distribution.

Our Drill Philosophy

We don't believe in boring, repetitive drills that feel like a gym workout. We view technique as the tool that gives you freedom.

  • The 'Elbows Up' Rule: This is our golden rule for balance and momentum during turns. It keeps your frame solid without needing to use force.
  • Core Engagement: We teach you to hold 50% of your weight in your center. Once you get this, your turns become stable, and you stop relying on your partner for balance.
  • Isolation Work: Whether it is shoulder rolls or hip movement for Bachata, we isolate the body parts so you aren't just moving your feet, but dancing with your whole self.

The Connection

Dance is a conversation. We spend significant time on leading and following techniques because even the most complex choreography fails without clear communication. You will learn to differentiate between a subtle nudge and a clear command, making it possible to dance comfortably with any partner you meet at a social event.

Chalo, are you ready to stop overthinking your steps and start feeling the music? Join our Sunday sessions in Safdarjung Enclave and let's get you moving the right way.
