About Makeup for Every Skin Tone

The biggest mistake I see is using foundations that are too light for deeper skin tones, which leads to that dreaded ashy, greyish finish. My logic is simple: I match the undertone exactly and focus on skin prep first. When I work with deep skin, I don't just put product on; I use hydrating, cream-based color correction to ensure the foundation sits like a second skin, glowing and fresh for hours instead of looking like a heavy, powdery layer.

When I work with deeper or dusky skin tones, the goal is never to change the complexion, but to celebrate its richness. Too many artists try to 'brighten' deeper skin with lighter shades, and that is exactly how you get that flat, grey look.

My process relies on three principles:

  1. Color Theory & Undertones: Understanding if your skin has yellow, red, or neutral undertones is the difference between a seamless blend and a patchy look. I use specific color correctors to even out hyperpigmentation without needing a heavy cakey base.
  2. Strategic Prep: For deeper skin, hydration is non-negotiable. I use primers that bring out the skin's natural luminosity rather than just matting everything down, which helps the makeup last longer in humid Indian weather.
  3. Precision Application: We do not need layers of product. I use thin, highly pigmented layers that let your skin breathe. This ensures the makeup looks like real skin in person, not just under studio lights.

Whether it's a bold, high-glam reception look or a soft, radiant bridal style, the base must be solid. If you have ever felt like makeup makes you look washed out or if you worry about your base oxidizing, let's talk. I always explain the logic behind every product I apply so you know exactly why it works for you.
