Cinematic Desert Portrait Photography
The desert is a giant, open canvas. I use the harsh light, shifting dunes, and golden hour to frame your story in a way that feels raw and bold.
This video shows the entire process of a desert photoshoot, from the behind the scenes setup to the final edited portraits. The contrast between the red dress and the sand dunes creates a visually stunning, high-fashion look.
About Desert Portraits: Cinematic & Bold
The desert light is fickle, but that is where the magic lives. I do not carry artificial lighting rigs. I use the natural fall of light during golden hour and the stark texture of the dunes to shape the mood. Expect to move around a lot, as we will be chasing shadows and sunbeams to get that raw, cinematic look.
Shooting in the desert is about embracing the vastness. I don't believe in over-posing or creating fake scenes. I look for the silence and the story in the environment.
My process relies on my Nikon Z6ii and a 24-70mm lens. This setup allows me to switch quickly between wide, landscape-heavy portraits that show the scale of the dunes and intimate, moody close-ups that focus on your expression.
We usually schedule these sessions for the golden hour, either sunrise or sunset. This is when the light is soft enough to play with and strong enough to create that cinematic contrast I am known for. If it gets windy or if the light changes, we adapt. I find that these unplanned moments often become the strongest images in the set.
Since I am based in Delhi, I travel across India for these shoots. Whether we are in the dunes of Rajasthan or exploring a different arid landscape, the goal remains the same: capturing the feeling of the place. Note that travel and stay expenses are not included in my package and will be handled by the client. If you have a specific location in mind, let me know, and we can figure out the best time to capture it.
