Artistic and Portrait Henna Designs
From intricate bridal portraits to custom character tributes, here is a glimpse into the henna stories I love creating.
This full bridal mehendi is one of my favorite projects. I created matching portraits of the bride and groom, ensuring their likeness was captured perfectly. The design is filled with details, including architectural domes and a beautiful tree of life, telling a complete story across both hands.
I love a good challenge, and recreating the iconic smile of Madhuri Dixit was such a fun practice session. This video shows the reference photo and the final henna portrait, capturing her expression with detailed shading.
For festive occasions like Teej or Karwa Chauth, a mythological design is perfect. Here is a portrait of Shiva and Parvati, created with delicate lines and shading to capture their divine essence. I also included the couple's initials on the fingers for a personal touch.
One of my clients jokingly said she wanted to "have her husband in her grip," so I made it happen! This is a custom portrait I created for her based on a photo she sent. It's a great example of how we can incorporate humor and love into your design.
Beyond portraits, I have a passion for realistic floral henna. This design features a large, blooming peony with detailed petals and leaves, creating a bold and elegant statement piece that wraps around the arm.
This was a special one. I designed this mehendi for my own fiancé for our engagement. On one hand is a White Egret Orchid, and on the other is a geometric design with our initials, making it both personal and symbolic.
Here’s a little peek into my process. This video shows the careful line work and shading that goes into a detailed bridal portrait. You can see how I build the design layer by layer, from the initial outline to the final intricate patterns.
This design tells the story of Vat Purnima. On one hand, I created a portrait of a woman in traditional attire, and on the other, a figurative scene of her praying by a banyan tree, capturing the devotion of the festival.
About Featured
Because I use my own hand-mixed organic henna, the stain development is a process. It starts light and deepens to that rich mahogany over 24 to 48 hours. I will always guide you through the specific aftercare. Sealing the design with my lemon-sugar mix is key to getting the best, longest-lasting result possible.
How I approach your portrait
Every portrait mehendi project starts with a conversation. Whether you want a loved one, a pet, or even a Bollywood star, I ask for clear reference photos first. For complex faces, I often do a light sketch on the skin to map out proportions before I touch the henna cone. This ensures the likeness is accurate and gives me a template to follow for shading and detail work.
Customization and style
I treat my henna like a canvas. If you want a 3x4 inch rendering of a face, I focus on realistic shading techniques to capture expressions. If you prefer a full-figure scene, like a traditional Maharashtrian couple or a mythological portrait, I blend the figures with intricate floral or jali work to frame the design on your palm. Since I am obsessed with getting a dark stain, I work with premium, organic henna blends that are free from harsh chemicals.
Bringing your vision to life
I love a creative challenge. You can bring me quirky ideas, anime requests, or sentimental tributes, and I will find a way to translate them into henna. I handle projects in Navi Mumbai and across Chennai, so reach out if you have a specific date in mind. Let’s create something that tells your story.
