Upcycled and Sustainable Terrariums for Your Home
Don't toss that empty jam jar or cake container. I can turn your forgotten glassware into a thriving, self-sustaining mini jungle.
This terrarium was made in a recycled cake jar. It's a great example of how you can give old containers a new purpose. Just send me your clean jars and I can turn them into a mini jungle for you.

About Upcycled & Sustainable Creations
Before you ship your containers to my studio in Nirvana Country, ensure they are thoroughly cleaned and clear of any food residue. I typically look for glass with a wide opening or a stable base, as this makes it much easier to layer the drainage stones, activated charcoal, and moss that keep your ecosystem healthy without constant fuss.
Sustainability is not just a concept here, it is the foundation of how I build these ecosystems. When you send over an old decanter, an apothecary jar, or even that unique bottle you have been saving, you are not just saving glass from a landfill. You are giving me a canvas to build a unique story.
The process starts with ensuring the vessel is airtight, which is crucial for the natural moisture cycle. I layer substrates carefully to prevent mold, a common issue in closed systems, while selecting humidity-loving plants like Fittonia or mosses that thrive in these micro-climates. If the jar is too small or the glass is too tinted, I might advise against it, as healthy plant life needs that specific interplay of light and drainage to survive.
Think of this as a collaboration. You provide the vessel, I provide the living art. It is a perfect way to keep a sentimental object, maybe a jar from a wedding favor or a childhood find, and turn it into a desk piece that actually grows. Reach out if you have a specific container in mind and let us see if we can make it part of your indoor jungle.
