Every bronze icon begins as a wax model, hand-sculpted in our studio. Before we pour a single drop of metal, we share this wax form with you for approval, ensuring the divine expression you envision is exactly what we capture.

A custom wax model of Lord Ranganathar accompanied by his divine consorts, Sridevi and Bhoodevi. The intricate details of their crowns and postures are carefully shaped by hand at this stage.

Another view of the Ranganathar set wax model, focusing on the central figure of Lord Vishnu. His four arms, holding the discus and conch, are sculpted with precision, ready for client approval.

This angle highlights the graceful form of Sridevi in the wax stage. Every curve and ornament is meticulously crafted, capturing her divine essence before the final casting.

The powerful form of Mahavarahi in its wax stage. Her multiple arms and distinct iconography are all sculpted in this preliminary model, capturing her fierce yet protective nature.

A work-in-progress view of a Panchamukhi Hanuman sculpture. The bronze idol is placed within its silver-plated Prabhavali (arch), showing how we combine different metals and elements in our work.

This is the wax model for a Raja Rajeshwari sculpture. The dynamic pose and intricate details are first perfected in wax, capturing the goddess's regal and powerful presence.

The wax model of Sivagami (Goddess Parvati) standing in a classic Chola style. The outdoor setting highlights the smooth finish and graceful posture of the wax figure before it is prepared for casting.

About The Art of Creation: From Wax to Bronze

At this stage, you are not just ordering a statue; you are seeing the prana, or life-breath, of the deity take shape. We send you detailed visuals of this hand-sculpted wax model so we can refine the expressions, the posture, and every ornament together before the fire touches the mould. It is the most important step in making sure the final Panchaloha icon feels like a true reflection of your devotion.

The lost-wax casting process, or cire perdue, is a sacred tradition that has defined our work for generations. Everything begins with the wax model. Unlike mass-produced figures, we sculpt every detail by hand, from the gentle curve of a goddess's smile to the intricate geometry of a weapon. This stage is where your feedback is vital. We share photographs or video updates of this wax form, allowing you to request adjustments to the deity's mudra, posture, or attributes before we create the final mould.

Once you approve the wax model, we move into the casting phase. We use Panchaloha, a traditional five-metal alloy, to ensure the resulting icon possesses the weight and resonance required for worship. The mould is heated, the wax is lost, and the molten metal takes its place. The final step involves hours of meticulous hand-chiseling, where we bring out the fine details that give each idol its distinct personality and divine presence. Whether you need a small 8-inch icon for a personal shrine or a 3.5-foot deity for a temple sanctum, our process remains consistent, rooted in the Agama Shastras and our ancestral techniques from Swamimalai. We handle the entire journey, from the first sketch in wax to the final antique or golden polish, shipping our work safely to your home.

We are a family of artisans from Swamimalai, the heartland of Chola bronze casting. Making these sculptures is our spiritual practice, and we often chant as we work to infuse our devotion into the metal. Every piece we create is a way for us to hold on to our roots.
