About this collection
Never brush your hair when it is dry. That is the quickest way to create frizz and lose your pattern definition. When you sit in my chair at my DLF Phase 1 studio, I start by analyzing your curl porosity and natural movement. I do not use standard layering techniques that weigh down your spirals; instead, I use precision cutting to enhance your natural volume and give your hair the specific shape it needs to bounce and stay defined.
Why Your Curls Need a Different Approach
Most stylists treat curly hair like straight hair that just happens to bend. They pull it tight, cut it, and hope for the best. When you go home and wash it, the hair shrinks back into its natural state, and the cut looks completely different. That is why I practice a different methodology. We focus on the health of the cuticle, the hydration levels of your strands, and the specific way your hair naturally coils.
The Science of the Cut
At my studio, we don't just 'trim' curls. We look at:
- Porosity: How your hair absorbs moisture, which dictates how we wash and prep it.
- Pattern Matching: Determining if you have waves, spirals, or coils so we can choose the right technique.
- Weight Distribution: Using specialized texturizing to remove bulk without sacrificing the curl definition.
I often use the Vidal Sassoon precision cutting philosophy but adapt it for texture. This means every snip is calculated to encourage your curls to sit in their natural formation, not to force them into a shape that requires hours of heat styling. If you have been struggling with a 'poofy' look, it is likely because the internal weight of the hair hasn't been balanced correctly.
Aftercare is Not Optional
I am always honest during our consultation: curly hair requires a different maintenance routine. If you want that defined, bouncy look you see in my gallery, you have to commit to proper hydration and using the right curl creams. I will walk you through exactly what to use and how to style it at home so you don't feel lost the next time you wash your hair.
Brij Hair Artistry
I am Brij, and I have curly hair myself, so I know the struggle. I don't look at your hair as a problem to be solved with straightening treatments. I look at it as a pattern to be enhanced. My goal is to send you home with a cut that works with your natural movement, not against it.
