Match Practice and Cricket Tactics Training
Drills are just the start. Here, we move beyond the nets to learn how to read the game, handle pressure, and execute strategy on the field.
Cricket is a thinking game. Here, a coach uses a whiteboard to explain field settings and strategy to a group of young, attentive players before a session.
The joy of taking a wicket in a practice match. These moments build team spirit and teach players how to celebrate success and support each other on the field.
It all starts here. My coaching is for all age groups, including these U-12 boys learning to handle pressure and play as a team in a practice match.
About this collection
You will notice I don't just stand on the sidelines during practice matches. I am there on the ground, interrupting the flow to point out why a specific field setting worked or why your decision as a batter was wrong. We use real match simulations and whiteboard sessions to fix your cricket brain right when you make a mistake, not after the game is over.
Cricket is a thinking game. You can have the perfect straight drive, but if you don't know where to place the ball or how to read the bowler's intent, you will struggle when the pressure is on.
Why Match Practice Matters
Most academies focus only on net sessions. At my academy, we treat match practice as the most important part of your development. Whether it is a U-14, U-19, or Division-1 setup, the fundamentals remain the same:
- Game Awareness: We use whiteboard sessions to discuss field placements. You need to know why the captain sets a slip or a deep point.
- Pressure Handling: In the nets, you know what ball is coming next. In a match, you don't. We recreate this uncertainty so you learn to react, not predict.
- Tactical Execution: Batting isn't just about timing; it's about decision-making. I teach you when to defend and when to attack.
My Philosophy on Tactics
'Ye flex hota hai, relax karo body.' When you are playing a match, your body tends to tighten up. I watch for that. If I see you panicking, we stop, we fix the posture, and we reset. We focus heavily on the KSCA league structure, preparing our teams for the intensity of competitive division cricket. This isn't for fun—it is for players who want to understand the sport, improve their match temperament, and eventually push for state-level selection.
Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy
I'm Raghuram Bhat, and I’ve seen enough cricket to know that talent without tactics is wasted. I personally oversee these sessions to ensure you learn how to think, not just how to hit.
