About Conversational & AI Interfaces
most chat designs fail because they ignore the latency between a user prompt and the ai's response. i design these interfaces with specific loading states and skeleton screens in figma, so the user knows exactly what's happening while the backend does the heavy lifting. it keeps the conversation moving without making the user wait for a blank screen.
a bad conversational ui feels like talking to a wall. a good one feels like a conversation. when i map out these flows, i'm looking at two things: the technical trigger and the human reaction.
the architecture of conversation
i don't just mock up chat bubbles. i look at the full stack logic. if we're building a flow for something like an event planner or a resume builder, the ui needs to handle context switching. how does the ai remember what you said two screens ago? how does the interface show that context? i map these flows in figma to ensure your developers aren't guessing.
personality in pixels
the avatar or the character you choose isn't just decoration. it sets the tone. if your ai is meant to be a professional analyst, it needs a different visual weight than a friendly shopping assistant. i design these assets from the ground up, making sure they fit into your dark mode or light mode themes seamlessly.
the tech-first design
everything i design is built with react-native feasibility in mind. no fancy animations that will tank your app's performance. i document the spacing, the padding, and the logic specifically for typescript developers, so the handover is clean. you get a product that is actually ready to deploy, not just a pretty screenshot.
