Featured Live Sketches and Event Artworks
A peek into my sketchbook. Whether it's the buzz of a Bengaluru street or a quiet moment at your event, I’m here to capture the feeling of the day on paper.
There's a unique magic in sketching someone live and seeing their face light up. This video captures some of my favorite moments in Vietnam, where I drew portraits of strangers. Their raw, unfiltered reactions are the real treasure and the reason I love what I do.
This is my hometown beach in Tanur, Kerala, captured in watercolor. Holding up the finished sketch against the very scene that inspired it feels like holding a memory in my hands. It’s this feeling of connection to a place that I strive to bring into every piece.
Bengaluru’s Church Street is pure energy, and the iconic yellow KC Das building is its heart. I painted this on a busy day, trying to capture the chaos of the traffic and the building's sunny personality. This is what urban sketching is all about for me, finding beauty in the bustle.
Sketching food is like tasting it twice. Here’s a spread of delicious Thai food I got to illustrate before I got to eat it. My sketchbook shows the vibrant colors of the fruits and local dishes, with the real feast right behind it, ready to be enjoyed.
When I start painting in a public space, a small crowd often gathers. This was a moment in Hyderabad where curious onlookers stopped to watch the process. This interaction and shared curiosity is one of the best parts of being a live event artist.
I still can't believe this happened. This video shows the moment I won first place at a plein air painting competition. I almost didn't go, but I pushed myself, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my artistic journey.
Here I am, happy and in my element on a beach in Phuket. With my sketchbook and watercolors by my side, I found so much inspiration in the sand and sunsets. This is me, a solo traveler and artist, finding stories to paint wherever I go.
About Featured
When I sketch live at your event, I’m not just recording a scene; I’m trying to bottle the energy of the room. I work quickly, usually creating 8 to 10 hand-drawn portraits an hour using waterproof inks and vibrant watercolors on high-quality paper. It’s a bit of organized, creative chaos, but that’s where the magic happens. I keep my setup compact and portable—I just need a chair and a clear view to start capturing those memories for your guests.
More Than Just a Drawing
People often ask if my sketches look like photos. The honest answer is: no, and that's exactly the point. Photography captures the surface, but live sketching captures the vibe. When I paint your event, whether it's a wedding ceremony, a corporate get-together, or a birthday brunch, I’m translating the conversation, the laughter, and the light into ink and wash.
The Process
I come prepared with my portable easel and 300 GSM watercolor paper. For live guest portraits, I interact with your attendees—some want to chat, others are shy, and some just love watching the brush move. It becomes a small performance piece that adds a layer of engagement to your event. Every sketch is handed over in a protective sleeve so your guests leave with a durable, hand-made memory.
Why Choose Live Art?
- It's Interactive: Guests love watching the process. It's a conversation starter.
- It's Personal: A photo on a phone gets lost in the cloud. A physical watercolor sketch gets framed.
- It's Authentic: I don't aim for hyper-realism. I aim for character, emotion, and the 'soul' of the subject.
Whether it's a live event illustration of your venue or quick portraits of your friends, I bring the same approach I use for my urban sketching adventures around Bengaluru. If you’re looking for something that feels less 'staged' and more 'lived-in,' let’s talk. I travel for events, so don't worry if your venue is a bit further out.
Basit
I’m Basit, a self-taught artist living in Bengaluru who learned everything from YouTube and the streets. I don’t do corporate polish; I just bring my sketchbook, some ink, and a love for catching the 'real' moments as they happen. Whether it's a lively wedding or a quiet corner in a park, I’m ready to draw.
