Measurement and Care Guides for Your Traditional Attire
Getting your outfit right without visiting the shop might seem difficult, but I have made it simple. Follow these guides to take accurate measurements at home and keep your clothes looking sharp for years.
If you have a garment that fits you perfectly, you can take measurements from it for your new order. In this video, I demonstrate the correct way to measure the length, chest, and other key areas of your existing clothes to ensure a perfect fit.
An English cut or 'coat sleeves' saya needs to be ironed correctly to maintain its shape. I show you how to align the seams and where to create the crease so that your sherwani saya always looks sharp and well-maintained.
To get the perfect fit for a custom 'koti' or vest, the length is very important. This video shows you how to measure the correct length, which should be about 6 inches below your hip bone, for a proper and traditional fit.
About The Perfect Fit: Measurement & Care Guides
The secret to a perfect fit is measuring your most comfortable existing garment rather than measuring your body directly. If you have a saya or kurta that fits you well, lay it flat on a table and measure from the shoulder seam to the hem for length, and seam-to-seam for chest width. This method ensures we replicate the comfort you are already used to.
Accuracy in Online Ordering
My online measurement system is built on years of experience with clients worldwide. Whether you are in Dubai, the USA, or Mumbai, the goal is 99% accuracy. When you share measurements with me, I translate them into the structural requirements of your garment, considering fabric types like original Ruby Mill or Classic Horizon materials.
Maintaining Your Garment
A beautiful garment requires proper care to stay in shape. For an English-cut saya, which uses specific shoulder padding and fusing, ironing is key. Always align the back and front seams before you begin to maintain the structure. When pressing, focus on the 'paan' (chest panel) and collar to keep that sharp, professional look. Avoid high heat on delicate hand-embroidered areas; use a steam press or a protective cloth over the work.
Why Detailed Measurements Matter
Whether you are ordering a traditional Surti Sherwani or a simple koti, the length is critical. For instance, a koti should typically fall six inches below your hip bone for a classic, respectful fit. By following my video guides, you provide me the exact data needed to cut and stitch your fabric with precision. If you are ever unsure, remember that I am just a message away. I often hop on a quick video call with clients to verify measurements, ensuring that when the parcel arrives, it feels like it was tailored right in front of you.
