Saturdays in Cubbon Park Watercolor Painting
Every Saturday, we sprawl out under the Cubbon Park trees to paint, laugh, and just be. It is my favorite weekly ritual, and you are invited to join our little community.
A look back at our one year anniversary of Cubbon Paints. It shows how our small community has grown, filled with laughter, friendship, and lots of beautiful art created together.
Caught in my element. This is my typical Saturday setup with my watercolor palette, sketchbook, and all the essentials ready for a creative session in the park.
Our Saturdays are more than just painting. This video captures the full experience from the metro ride to the park, the fun moments with fellow artists, and the delicious food we share afterward.
A candid moment of me smiling while painting in my sketchbook. The peaceful atmosphere of the park is the perfect backdrop for letting creativity bloom.
This is a page from my sketchbook, capturing the beautiful trees of Cubbon Park. My workshops often focus on painting what we see around us, from grand trees to tiny flowers.
In this short clip, I demonstrate how to add depth and detail to a leaf on a watercolor hibiscus. I love sharing these simple techniques that can make your paintings come to life.
Sometimes our art sessions turn into music sessions. The vibe is always relaxed and joyful, with people connecting over shared passions for creativity.
A flat lay of my art supplies during an outdoor painting session. I often bring different materials for everyone to try, so you can experiment and find what you love.
Our community is the heart of these workshops. We are a group of people who find joy in creating together, supporting each other's artistic journey with a lot of fun and madness.
About Saturdays in Cubbon Park
Forget about buying expensive kits. Just bring yourself. I set up on the grass with mats and shared supplies, so you can focus on mixing colors, doodling, and enjoying the shade. It is messy, it is outside, and it is completely chill.
You know, when I started these park sessions, I just wanted a place to breathe. Now, our Saturday jams have become this beautiful ritual where we just show up, sit on the grass, and paint whatever we see—the old trees, the flowers blooming that day, or just the light filtering through the leaves.
What we actually do
This isn't an academic class. We don't worry about perfect lines or academic theory. Whether you have never held a brush in your life or you doodle every day, you fit right in. I bring the artist-grade paper, shared watercolor palettes, brushes, and everything else we need. You just need to show up ready to get a little messy.
Why it works
We are usually there for 2 to 3 hours. Sometimes we talk, sometimes we just paint in silence, and occasionally, we turn it into a music session if someone brings a guitar. It is all about the vibe. By the time we pack up, you usually leave with a finished piece of art and maybe a couple of new friends. We are just a bunch of people finding joy in the simple act of creating together. If you are looking for a break from your routine or just want to spend a Saturday morning doing something soul-filling, come find us under the trees.
