Art in the Park: Outdoor Painting Sessions
Escape the screen and pick up a brush. I host relaxed, guided acrylic painting sessions in Bangalore’s green spaces like Cubbon Park and Lalbagh—no experience needed, just a love for nature and art.
A glimpse into an on the spot painting session at Lalbagh Botanical Garden. It was a pleasure to paint alongside other artists and be honored by the presence of Mrs. Jija Harisingh.
You can often find me sketching or painting under the big, shady trees of Cubbon Park. It is my happy place, where I can quietly observe and capture the beauty around me in my sketchbook.
A short video from one of our 'Art in Cubbon Park' meetups. The atmosphere is always so calm and creative, with artists of all ages finding their own space to create.
Here are a few moments from a wonderful day of painting at Lalbagh. It is always so inspiring to see people connect with art and with each other in such a beautiful, natural setting.
A snapshot from the 51st edition of Cubbon Paints. It was a pleasure to paint a birthday card for a fellow artist and be part of such a warm and supportive community.
The 50th edition of Cubbon Paints was filled with so much positive energy. Here is our group of artists, all gathered under the trees after a wonderful day of painting and sharing.

Standing with my finished painting of the Lalbagh lake. It was a joy to capture this scene on canvas, right there in the park.
Three of us showing our finished landscape paintings after a productive session at Cubbon Park. It's amazing to see how each artist interprets the same scenery in their own unique style.
About Art in the Park: Outdoor Painting Sessions
When we paint outdoors, we learn to work with natural light and the rhythm of the park. It is not about finding a perfect studio spot but rather finding the right tree shade, managing your palette while balancing a canvas on an easel, and letting the breeze dictate the drying time. I bring all the supplies, but you bring your presence, whether you are a complete beginner or an artist looking for a quiet Sunday escape.
There is a unique freedom in plein air painting, especially in a city as busy as Bangalore. My outdoor sessions are designed to be an accessible, meditative break from the urban rush. We set up at iconic spots like the lush grounds of Cubbon Park or the vibrant landscapes of Lalbagh Botanical Garden.
You do not need to be a trained artist to join these meetups. My goal is to help you observe the environment—the shifting shadows under the Banyan trees or the specific hue of the lake at Lalbagh—and translate that onto your canvas. We use heavy body acrylics because they adapt well to outdoor conditions, allowing for quick layering and bold color mixing.
Since these are community-led sessions, expect a social environment. You will be painting alongside fellow enthusiasts, which often leads to sharing tips on brushwork or color theory. It is a shared learning experience rather than a formal classroom lecture.
For these 3-hour sessions, I provide everything: primed canvas boards, a variety of brush sizes, tabletop easels, and a full palette of acrylics. We focus on landscape techniques like background blending and capturing textures, such as the rough bark of a tree or the soft reflection of water.
Please wear comfortable clothes you do not mind getting paint on, and bring a bottle of water. If you are new to acrylics, we will start with the basics—how to mix colors on your palette without making them muddy and how to apply paint to create depth in your scenery. Come ready to be messy, relaxed, and creative.
