About Happy Client Diaries
Every reaction you see here started with a simple conversation about what really matters. If you are gifting a portrait, do not worry about having a perfect reference photo. Whether it is an old, blurred image or separate photos of loved ones, I can merge them to create a single, clear portrait. My process is about capturing the emotion, not just the features, and most clients are surprised at how a simple charcoal sketch or oil painting can bring back a memory exactly as they remember it.
More Than Just a Painting
When I work on a portrait, I am not just copying a photograph. I am looking for the emotion behind it. Over the last 15 years and 5000+ faces, I have learned that the most meaningful gifts are the ones that tell a story—like a grandfather's smile from a blurry ID card, or bringing a whole family together in one frame even if they were never in the same room.
My Process
We start by chatting about your vision. You share the story, the photos, and the occasion. If the photos are faded or damaged, I use my experience to restore those missing details.
- Charcoal & Graphite: These are great for dramatic, high-contrast portraits that look sharp on any wall. I use acid-free paper to make sure they last.
- Dry Brush: This is my go-to for a hyper-realistic, photographic finish. It is smooth, clean, and perfect for when you want something that looks almost like a high-end photo.
- Oil on Canvas: For something truly classic, this is the way to go. It takes time—mostly because of the drying process—but the depth and texture you get with oil paint cannot be matched by anything else.
Before You Order
I share progress shots with you throughout the journey. Nothing is finalized or fixed with varnish until you tell me it is exactly what you wanted. If you have a last-minute request for a birthday or anniversary, just tell me. I can often work around tight deadlines if you let me know early. Let’s create something that makes your loved ones emotional in the best way possible.
