Creative Art Experiments and Custom Sketching
This is where I stop chasing perfection and start playing. From quick pen sketches to coffee-milk optical illusions, these experiments show you that art is less about the tools and more about the idea.
A Teacher's Day challenge: one portrait of Dr. Radhakrishnan, two different stories. The left side was done in 30 minutes with dots, the right in 3 hours with detailed shading. A lesson in speed vs. patience.
Liquid portrait illusion! I drew Einstein on the outside of a jar and Michael Jackson on the inside. When I pour coffee and milk, one appears, and when I flip it, the other is revealed. No CGI, just a fun experiment.
For 15 years I tried to make perfect art. Now, I make truthful art. This abstract, colorful portrait is about painting what I feel inside, not just what I see.
A 15-minute pen sketch challenge. This is a fast, scribbly portrait of Satnam Singh Aulakh, showing a looser, more expressive style.
Let's get creative! Watch me sketch a portrait using only the letters from the word 'Ravi'. A fun challenge to think outside the box.
Another spiral sketch, this time of a mother and child. The continuous line creates a hypnotic and unique portrait.
A double-sided surprise. On one side, it looks like simple paper rolls. But when you flip it, you see two hidden portraits of Baby Krishna.
About From My Sketchbook
These sketches are my playground. If you’ve ever wondered how a portrait can be made using just letters, a random pen, or a bit of coffee, this is where I document those tests. Art doesn't always need to be a polished studio piece to be meaningful, and sometimes a 15-minute challenge reveals more about my process than a week-long painting. If you're looking for art that feels raw and personal rather than mass-produced, we should talk.
I spent 15 years trying to make things look perfect. Somewhere along the way, I realized that 'perfect' is often boring. This cluster is a collection of the moments where I decided to break my own rules.
Why the Experiments?
When I'm not working on commissioned oil portraits, I'm usually testing new ways to see a face.
- The Speed Challenges: You'll see pieces like my 30-minute Teachers' Day portrait or 15-minute pen scribbles. These are about capturing the essence of a person before the clock runs out.
- The 'Jugaad' Factor: Whether it's using coffee and milk to create a liquid reveal, or drawing a portrait using only the letters of a name, I love working with what's on my desk.
- Optical Illusions: My spiral sketches or double-sided paper roll portraits aren't just tricks—they are a way to make the viewer pause and look closer.
Can I do this for you?
While these pieces are my creative outlets, they reflect the core of my service. If you want a portrait that breaks the mold—perhaps a caricature for an invite, a stylistic sketch, or something that blends traditional techniques with a fun, modern twist—I’m ready. I don't follow a cookie-cutter process. We look at your reference, we talk about the vibe you want, and we create something that actually feels like you. No corporate templates, just honest work.
