Wearable Art Workshops: Paint Your Own Tote Bags
Turn a plain tote bag or t-shirt into your own personal canvas. Whether it is a fun group activity or a creative birthday party, I bring all the paints and supplies to your doorstep.
These kids had a super time painting abstract patterns on canvas tote bags. It's a great way to style an accessory and show off your creativity.
I conducted a super fun tote bag painting workshop for a corporate team. I loved how each piece came out so simple yet so beautiful. A great activity for team bonding!
This activity helps develop fine motor skills as kids use ear buds to create colourful dot patterns. Here, they are personalizing t-shirts with their monograms.
This beautiful Madhubani fish motif was painted on a tote bag by one of my 5th graders. Madhubani is a traditional Indian folk art, and I love teaching its vibrant patterns.
Another stunning Madhubani fish design on a tote bag. It's amazing to see young artists embrace the intricate details of this beautiful folk art.
This student created a lovely composition with a fish inside a floral frame, all in the Madhubani style. The colours and patterns are just wonderful.
A close-up of a student carefully painting a Madhubani fish. It's a process that requires focus and patience, and the results are so rewarding.
About this collection
For these workshops, I bring pre-sketched tote bags or t-shirts, so nobody feels the pressure of drawing from scratch. We use high-quality fabric paints that stay vibrant even after a wash, and I walk everyone through blending colours and using stencils to make their design truly unique.
Why Wearable Art?
Art doesn't have to stay on a canvas. When you paint on a tote bag or a t-shirt, you create something you can actually carry or wear. It turns the workshop into a practical project that keeps the 'sukoon' (peace) of the activity long after the party ends.
How My Workshops Work
I handle the logistics so you don't have to.
- The Setup: I bring everything—fabric paints, brushes, stencils, table covers, and of course, the tote bags or tees.
- The Process: We start with a quick demo on fabric painting techniques. I teach you how to layer colours and fix designs so they last.
- The Vibe: Whether it's a birthday party or a corporate team-building session, the environment is super chill. No one needs to be an artist; I love seeing people experiment, make mistakes, and find their own style through a bit of 'jugaad' with colours.
Custom Themes for Everyone
- For Kids: We do themes like unicorns, superheroes, or anime. It’s a great way to build fine motor skills while having fun.
- For Corporate Teams: We focus on abstract designs or company-themed motifs that encourage conversation and help everyone unwind away from their screens.
- For Personal Keepsakes: If you are planning a small gathering, we can do intricate Madhubani fish motifs or simple floral vines.
I ensure the materials are non-toxic and skin-safe, especially for the little ones. Once the painting is done, we spend a few minutes setting the paint so the final piece is ready to use immediately.

Hi, I am Soojata. I believe art is about the process, not just the result, and nothing beats the feeling of wearing something you painted yourself. My studio is my happy place, but I love bringing that same messy, colourful joy to your home or office.
