When I build a feature wall, I am not just sticking gypsum panels to a flat surface. I carefully plan the metal framework first, ensuring your TV unit or display niche can actually take the weight of your equipment, while leaving dedicated channels for LED drivers so you are not left with messy wires showing later.
Whether it is a TV unit with hidden storage or a 3D geometric panel that acts as a room divider, my approach stays the same. It starts with a GI metal frame that gives the wall its structural strength. If you want a TV unit, I add plywood backing at the specific points where the bracket will mount, so your expensive TV stays secure for years.
Then comes the gypsum board installation. I focus on precision at the joints, using fiber mesh tape and compound to make sure the surface is mirror-smooth before it hits the paint stage. Lighting is where the magic happens. I design channels for profile LED strips or cove lights right into the gypsum structure, so you get that soft, high-end glow without seeing the source of the light.
