A Kashmiri-Inspired Delhi Home: Modern Design with Roots
Creating a space that blends the soul of Kashmir with modern Delhi living. This project is all about warmth, walnut tones, and making a vacation spot feel truly like home.
The centerpiece of the living room is this TV wall with vertical wooden fluting and integrated backlighting. This feature provides a warm, ambient glow and serves as a modern interpretation of the classic wooden interiors found in Kashmir.
To add a touch of luxury and texture, we designed this feature wall with artistic panels and subtle gold leaf details. It sits behind a cozy rust-colored sofa, creating a rich, layered look that feels both sophisticated and inviting.
This wider view shows how we balanced the different elements in the living room. The large windows with sheer curtains flood the space with daylight, while the dark wood furniture and warm sofa create a grounded, comfortable atmosphere.
A closer look at the seating area, where the plush rust sofa and dark wood coffee table create a perfect spot for family conversations. We ensured the layout remained open and connected, encouraging interaction and relaxation.
About A Kashmiri-Inspired Delhi Home
The biggest challenge in this project was balancing the weight of traditional walnut tones with the airy, open-plan requirement of a modern Delhi apartment. To prevent the space from feeling heavy, we used light flooring and strategic backlighting to make the room breathe, while keeping the rich walnut fluting as the central feature.
Designing a home that bridges two cities requires more than just furniture selection. For this Lajpat Nagar project, we focused on the sensory experience of a vacation home. The client wanted a space that felt like home when visiting Delhi, and our design response was to ground the aesthetic in familiar walnut wood textures.
We used vertical wooden fluting for the TV wall, which serves as a modern nod to traditional Kashmiri architecture. This detail provides warmth, especially during Delhi winters. We contrasted this with soft, rust-colored sofas and sheer curtains that let in daylight, ensuring the room feels comfortable, not dark.
The kitchen was another key area where we merged style with daily function. By using green cabinets with fluted glass, we achieved a modern look that stays practical for a busy family. We also integrated smart solutions like a Murphy bed to make the kids room flexible—an essential for a vacation home that might need to accommodate extra guests or provide extra play space.
As part of our turnkey execution, we handled the electrical rewiring, gypsum false ceilings, and all material sourcing. Whether it is selecting high-gloss PU finishes or managing the logistics of onsite fabrication, we ensure the vision remains consistent. If you are looking to bring a specific cultural influence into a modern Delhi home, let's talk about how to make it functional for your lifestyle.
