About Portraits of You
My favorite portraits aren't the ones where I tell you exactly where to put your hands. They are the 15-minute windows we steal during the chaos of your wedding day, when you finally take a breath. Whether we are by a river in Rishikesh or on a hotel terrace in Goa, this time is crucial—it is the only way to get shots that feel like you and not like a catalogue shoot.
I have a rule: if it feels awkward, it’s probably not going to look good in the final gallery. Over the last decade, I’ve learned that the best portraits happen when you stop 'performing' for the camera and just exist.
Why 15 minutes?
Weddings are intense. You have family pulling you in every direction, makeup artists touching up your hair, and the constant hum of guests. Asking for 15 minutes might seem like a lot in that schedule, but it is the golden window. It gives us just enough time to find the good light and let you settle into your own skin before the ceremony begins.
Where do we shoot?
I love working with the space you have. If you are getting ready at a beautiful resort in Goa, we will use the balcony. If you are having a Dilli winter wedding, we will find a quiet corner on the terrace with that soft, hazy sunlight. My goal isn't to drag you to a staged set, but to use the natural environment of your wedding venue.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Timing is everything: We should plan this 15-minute block before your guests arrive or right after you are ready.
- Wear what you love: Your comfort shows on your face. If you feel good, you will look good.
- Bring the chaos: If you want to include your pet, your sibling, or just have a glass of wine while we shoot, do it. The best portraits are the ones that actually tell your story, not a version of a story that belongs in a magazine.
