It’s not about the awards. It’s about the raw, unfiltered connection with the wild. Here is a glimpse into the moments and recognitions that define my journey, and how I bring that same patience to the workshops I run.

I was immensely humbled to receive a Special Mention at the Nature inFocus Festival & Awards for my Ranthambore wildscape photo. It's an honor to have my work recognized on such a prestigious platform.

On stage receiving the Wild Vision award from Canon. This recognition from a leader in photography equipment was a huge privilege and a proud moment in my journey.

Receiving the first place award for a Wildlife Photography Competition from the Green Club at SVKM's JCCL. It's always wonderful to be appreciated for the work I am so passionate about.

In this clip, I share the story of a tiger's roar making me drop my camera. These are the real, unscripted moments of awe and fear that make wildlife photography an addiction.

The Certificate of Excellence and trophy from the Green Club's Environment & Wildlife Photography Competition. Every award is a motivation to keep exploring and telling the stories of the wild.

My photo 'Regal in repose' displayed at the Canon Wild Vision exhibition. Seeing my work printed and shared with a wider audience is an incredible feeling.

A group photo with fellow winners at the Canon Wild Vision awards. Being part of a community of passionate wildlife photographers is inspiring.

Another proud moment holding the Canon Wild Vision award. My winning image is displayed behind me, a testament to the beauty of the wild.

The beautifully crafted wooden plaque I received from the Nature inFocus awards. It's a piece of art in itself.

The Special Mention certificate from the Nature inFocus Photography Awards 2023. I'm grateful to the jury and the entire team for this honor.

About Behind the Lens: My Journey & Recognition

These awards, like the Canon Wild Vision, are not just trophies to me. They are proof that when I listen to my guides, Rajkumar and Ravi, and wait for the right moment rather than chasing it, the jungle rewards us. That is exactly how I mentor my guests: focusing on precise vehicle positioning and field craft, not just the shutter count.

Photography in the wild is not about luck. It is about anticipating behaviour and respecting the habitat. When I look at my winning frames, I see the result of hours spent watching, learning, and letting the animals set the pace.

My approach to teaching is built on these same principles. On my field workshops, we do not drive around looking for easy shots. We study the territorial maps of tigers, understand the family dynamics of the local prides, and position ourselves for that one decisive frame. I show you how to read the jungle, how to manage your camera in harsh light, and why sometimes, the best shot is the one you do not take because it disturbs the subject.

Whether it is the extreme cold of Spiti or the dense Sal forests of Corbett, I teach you to anticipate the action. My goal is to move you beyond the basics of gear settings to a place where you can tell a story with a single image. You will learn to use your lenses to capture raw emotions, just as I do in my own work. When we are out there, we are not tourists; we are observers of the circle of life, ready for the moment nature decides to share its secrets.

I'm Amit. The jungle doesn't follow a script, and neither do I. Whether we're tracking tigers in Ranthambore or waiting for the snow leopard in Spiti, my goal is to help you capture the wild as it truly is, raw and unfiltered.
