About Ranthambore: Land of Legendary Tigers
The difference between a snapshot and a story is your perspective. I instruct our drivers to align the gypsy specifically for eye-level shots, which keeps you grounded in the tiger’s world rather than looking down from above. This simple positioning is how we capture the intensity of animals like Riddhi or T120 Ganesh without disturbing their hunt.
Ranthambore is my home ground, but it demands respect. Whether we are tracking a male like T120 Ganesh in the Lahpur Valley or observing famous queens like Noor and Riddhi, the focus is always on the animal. My workshops are not for those who want a quick safari; they are for photographers who want to understand fieldcraft.
The Field Experience
We operate with a maximum of four guests per gypsy. This is intentional. It gives every photographer the space to maneuver long lenses and the freedom to capture the action as it unfolds. We focus on:
- Real-time Tutoring: We discuss histogram management, back-button focusing, and exposure settings right as the action happens.
- Understanding Territory: Knowing the lineage and movement patterns of these tigers is how we anticipate the shot. We don't chase the animals; we position ourselves where they are likely to appear.
- Ethical Practice: We prioritize the animal’s comfort. If a tiger is active or hunting, we keep our distance and shoot ethically, ensuring our presence doesn't alter their behavior.
