Mumbai is more than a map, it is a rhythm. From the rattle of local trains to the nostalgia of kaali-peeli taxis, I capture the city's pulse through a raw, cinematic lens.

A reel dedicated to "Local Stories." It captures the essence of the Mumbai local train, from the view out the window to the quiet moments of waiting on the platform.

The quintessential Mumbai frame: a kaali-peeli taxi driving past the magnificent Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). A timeless image of the city's heritage and hustle.

A fisherman in his boat against the hazy silhouette of the Mumbai skyline. This shot, titled "Boats of Bombay," tells the story of the city's deep connection to the sea.

A kaali-peeli taxi parked by the sea wall at Marine Drive. The image evokes a sense of nostalgia and the countless journeys this iconic cab has made along the city's most famous promenade.

This cinematic strip captures three key icons: the Western Railway local train, a lone Koli fisherman's boat, and the city skyline at dusk.

An aerial view showing the network of local and metro train tracks cutting through the city, truly illustrating why they are called Mumbai's lifeline.

A moody, atmospheric shot of a person walking along a dark, wet train platform at night. The scene is lit by a single lamp, creating a cinematic, noir feel.

An overhead "moving frame" of a fisherman meticulously arranging his net in a small boat. The shot highlights the quiet, focused work that is part of the city's coastal life.

Two fishermen in a boat at sunrise, with many other boats in the background. This moving frame captures the peaceful start to a day for Mumbai's fishing community.

A kaali-peeli taxi on a wet street in front of a colonial-era building in Fort. The reflection on the road and the classic architecture create a scene rich with history.

About Icons of Mumbai

When I shoot Mumbai's icons, I never look for the postcard angle. I hunt for the in-between moments, like the rain-slicked reflection of a taxi in Fort or the hazy light hitting a fisherman’s net at dawn. It is about how the city breathes when it is not posing for the camera.
