My Dance Journey: Behind the Scenes with Alira
Dancing isn't always about perfect steps. Here is a look at my process, the growth, and the real moments behind every choreography.
My happy place. This montage celebrates International Dance Day and shows my journey of finding a home in dance workshops after moving to a new city.
Here is your reminder to dance with joy. This is the feeling I aim for in every class and choreography. It's not about perfection; it's about letting go and enjoying the moment.
This 'Aashiyan' choreography holds a special place in my heart. It was the first time in a while I was able to fight my performance anxiety and just dance without fear in front of a class.
Be messy, complicated, afraid, and show up anyway. This caption sums up how I was feeling this day, but I didn't let it stop me from dancing.
Here's me totally messing up the freestyle at the end, but that's part of the learning process. It's important to have fun and not take it too seriously.
This choreography brought out my inner child. Sometimes the best dances are the ones where you can be completely carefree.
Aspire to Inspire. This is my mantra for the year, to keep growing and sharing my passion.
A candid shot reflecting my work mode and growth mindset as a choreographer and dancer.
My vibe? Unfettered and sky-high. A photoshoot where I felt free and full of movement.
The wind in my hair and a beautiful view. Capturing the feeling of freedom that dance gives me.
About My Dance Journey
People often see the polished final performance, but the real magic happens in the messy, imperfect process of learning. Whether I'm tackling a new folk fusion routine or helping you find your confidence for a wedding solo, my goal is to strip away the nerves so you can move with complete freedom.
I started dancing to find my place in a new city, and it quickly became the way I express everything—from joy to anxiety. That is why my approach isn't about rigid steps; it's about helping you own the moment.
The Technical Side of Feeling Good
I know that performing in front of a crowd or a camera can be intimidating. That is why I include technical coaching in my sessions:
- Posture and Nakatras (Expressions): For weddings, especially if you are wearing a heavy lehenga, we work on posture and expression so you feel comfortable rather than weighed down.
- Practice Support: You get step-by-step video tutorials shot from the back, so you can practice at home without feeling lost.
- Simplified Formations: For groups and sangeet dances, I create formation charts that make sense, even if you or your family members have never danced before.
My Philosophy
I specialize in folk fusion, blending my training in over 10 Indian folk styles with modern, fresh beats. Whether it is a bridal solo, a group sangeet performance, or a corporate flash mob, I focus on choreography that is fun and authentic to you. I am constantly a student myself, attending workshops to keep my routines fresh. If you are ready to let go of the fear and just enjoy the music, let's connect and build a routine that feels like you.
