Building Your Badminton Foundation with Proper Technique
Solid badminton starts with correct grip, stance, and swing mechanics. I focus on daily drills at AKS Academy to ensure every student develops efficient technique from the start.
This video shows a simple but essential arm action shadow drill. Correct swing mechanics are fundamental, and we practice them repeatedly to build muscle memory for powerful and accurate shots.
We use specific exercises, like this seated hand movement drill, to isolate and strengthen the wrist and forearm. This is crucial for developing the quick, controlled shots needed for net play and deception.
About Building a Strong Foundation
I don't just stand on the sidelines. I sit on court with you to break down every movement, correcting your grip and swing angle. Many beginners rush their shots, but my drill-based approach forces you to slow down, think, and hit with purpose.
Badminton is not just about swinging a racket. It is about building muscle memory so that when you are in a match, your body knows exactly what to do. At my academy in Vidya Bal Bhawan School, Mayur Vihar, we move away from random play and focus on disciplined drill work.
The AKS Training Method
My sessions are built around repetitive, high-focus exercises. We dedicate specific time to:
- Grip and Stance: This is the base. If your grip is wrong, your shots will never have the power or accuracy you need. We fix this first.
- Arm Action: We use shadow drills to perfect the arc of your swing. This prevents injury and ensures you are ready for the shuttle before it arrives.
- Hand-Eye Coordination: Through seated movement drills and target practice, I teach players to isolate their wrists and forearms. This is the secret to deception on the net.
Why Technique Matters
Whether you are a kid starting out or an adult picking up the sport, you need a coach who corrects you in the moment. I often tell my students, 'thoda ruk, soche, phir maar' (pause, think, then hit). That extra second of thought is the difference between a frantic run and a precise, winning shot. We train on synthetic and wooden courts to give you the stability and feedback your feet need to learn proper footwork patterns. If you are serious about learning the game properly, come and see how we work.
