About Statement Bandi & Kurta Sets
When you choose a set, you are not just selecting a garment, but opting for precision tailoring where I balance structured jacket fusing with breathable fabrics like Dupion silk or organza. I focus on details like hand-finished embroidery, metallic buttons, and concealed plackets to ensure the fit remains impeccable from your first event to your last.
The bandi jacket is a staple of Indian menswear, but I approach it as a canvas for modern design. At my Shahpurjat studio in Delhi, I construct these sets to bridge the gap between traditional heritage and a contemporary, sharp aesthetic.
My process involves more than just selecting fabric. For the bandi jackets, I use canvas fusing to achieve a crisp, structured shape that holds its own whether you are at a festive Diwali dinner or a wedding cocktail party. I prioritize materials such as raw silk, velvet, and organza because they drape with a certain weight and elegance that mass-produced options simply cannot replicate.
When we move to the kurta, I lean toward minimalist cuts or asymmetric hems that pair seamlessly with the bandi. The embroidery, ranging from dense thread work to geometric grid patterns, is applied with a focus on proportion. I do not believe in overloading a garment with work; I prefer to let the quality of the fabric and the precision of the fit speak for themselves. Whether you are looking for the monochromatic sharpness of the 'Shoorveer' set or the soft, romantic tones of the 'Mystic Rose' collection, my goal is to provide an outfit that feels like it was made specifically for your body and your style.
