About Regal Sherwanis for the Groom

When we design your sherwani, we focus on the structure—using canvas fusing and shoulder padding to create a sharp, regal silhouette rather than a bulky one. We select Dupion art silk or brocade specifically for how they drape on your body, ensuring you have mobility while keeping that structured look during the ceremony.

My design philosophy centers on the modern groom who wants to look traditional without feeling like he is wearing a costume. Every sherwani begins in my Shahpur Jat studio, where we determine the right weight of fabric—whether it is raw silk, velvet, or imported brocade—based on the season and the tone of your wedding.

The Process

We move beyond standard sizing. Because each piece is fully bespoke, I map out your measurements to construct an outer shell that sits perfectly across the shoulders and tapers correctly through the torso. This internal canvassing is what gives the garment its stability and clean lines.

Craftsmanship and Detail

While the fit is the foundation, the embroidery defines the personality. I primarily use Zardozi handwork, French knots, and machine-finished threadwork that remains consistent even after hours of wear. If you prefer a minimalist look, we focus on fabric texture and metallic button placement. If you want something grander, we build density into the threadwork around the collar and cuffs, ensuring the focus stays on the craftsmanship.

Considerations for the Big Day

Since these are structured ceremonial garments, they require a bit of lead time. I recommend starting the conversation at least 6 weeks before your date to allow for fabric selection, initial fittings, and final adjustments. We handle the Sherwani and inner kurta layer; keep in mind that accessories like stoles, safas, and mojari footwear are selected separately to complement the final ensemble.
