Many photographers treat the Haldi as a quick filler event, but I treat it as a primary chapter. Because I work with off-camera flash and light modifiers even outdoors, I can control the harsh, mid-day sunlight typical of Haldi functions, keeping your skin tones warm and rich rather than washed out by the yellow decor.
How I capture the colour and chaos
I don't believe in staging Haldi ceremonies. The best photos happen when you are actually having fun, whether that involves getting playfully smeared with turmeric or dancing with friends. My goal is to capture those split-second emotions, not just the posed group shots.
My approach to your Haldi
- Controlling the light: Haldi events often happen at noon when the sun is harshest. I carry Nanlite tubes and off-camera flash equipment to balance the light, ensuring you don't end up with harsh shadows on your face.
- Fine art techniques: I use selective motion blur and creative framing to turn simple moments, like applying paste or laughing with family, into artistic frames that feel different from standard wedding snaps.
- Story-driven coverage: I look for the small details—the floral jewelry, the texture of the marigolds, and the way the light hits the venue. These elements help tell the story of your celebration from start to finish.
