Sketches and Digital Explorations

My sketchbook and iPad are where ideas begin. This collection features my looser, experimental work, from quick pencil and ink portraits to digital paintings that explore texture and color.

A video of a pencil sketch in my sketchbook. I love returning to the simple act of drawing faces that look back at you. It's the foundation of everything.

A quick ink sketch in my notebook. The process of creating a portrait with chaotic, cross-hatched lines is a form of meditation for me.

A video showing a frenetic ink sketch of a man laughing. I enjoy the challenge of capturing such a powerful emotion with just a pen and paper.

A simple ballpoint pen sketch of a woman sitting at leisure. These studies are part of my ongoing series, "Women Sitting Simply."

A minimalist portrait sketch. Sometimes the simplest lines can bring the most joy and capture a likeness with just a few strokes.

"Tamil Woman 1," a digital art piece. After recent archaeological findings at Keezhadi, I was inspired to visualize the women of ancient Tamil culture. This is the first woman who came to me.

"Tamil Woman 2." In my sepia dreams, she comes and stands with her new metal called Iron. This digital print continues my exploration of ancient Tamil identity.

This video shows the process of creating "Tamil Woman 1." It starts with a simple line sketch and builds up layers of digital color and texture to create an ancient, earthy feel.

"Contemplating," a digital painting where I experimented with textures and layers on Procreate. I love the endless possibilities of the digital canvas. High resolution downloads are available.

A close up detail of "Contemplating." You can see the fabric-like texture and the way the geometric shapes interact with the figure.

About Sketches and Digital Explorations

I treat these sketches as my daily meditation—a place where I do not worry about perfection. Whether it is a quick ink study of a face or a digital experiment on my iPad, I am focused on capturing the energy and mood of the subject rather than a clean, polished rendering.

For me, the sketchbook is where the real work happens before it ever hits a canvas. These pieces are often the starting point for larger narratives. When I sketch, I am fighting my own fires and making sense of the world, which is why you will see chaotic lines in my ink portraits or frenetic pencil strokes that just try to catch a likeness.

My digital work on Procreate allows me to play with this same freedom but with a different set of tools. It is where I experiment with textures, layers, and historical themes—like my series exploring ancient Tamil identity following the Keezhadi findings. I take these digital files and offer them as high-resolution prints, so you can bring a piece of this process into your own space without the need for a physical original.

This cluster is not about finished, staged pieces. It is about the honesty of the draft. It is about a woman sitting simply, a laughing face, or the quiet contemplation of a moment. If you connect with the raw feel of a sketch or the texture of a digital painting, we can discuss getting a print or commissioning something similar in this style.
