This is where I test my limits and keep my hands moving. Every sketch here is a piece of my daily practice, born on street corners and quiet afternoons.

A quick video showing how a realistic eye can be sketched with just a single pencil, focusing on light and shadow.

An experimental and colourful drawing of a village on a hillside, created using bright alcohol markers.

A watercolour study of pears on a branch, painted in my sketchbook to practice colour and form.

A short video showing the process of sketching a cute panda, from a blank page to a finished drawing.

A time-lapse of a charcoal horse sketch, showing how the image is built up with shading and blending.

A realistic pencil and charcoal drawing of a Converse shoe. Practice like this helps me improve my skills for commissioned work.

A whimsical pencil sketch capturing a mood, showing a girl on a windy day.

A video showing the process of painting a pear still life with watercolours, from the palette to the paper.

The beginning stages of the watercolour pear painting, showing the initial layers of colour.

Different views of the finished pear watercolour sketch, showing the details and colours from various angles.

About From My Sketchbook: Ideas & Practice

I do not just jump into commissions. Before I take on your idea, I spend hours on these practice sketches to get the proportions and lighting right. Whether it is charcoal shading or marker blends, this is where I build the skill to handle your specific request.

Art for me is not a static studio task. It is about constant movement. Whether I am at Cubbon Park or sitting on my terrace, my sketchbook is my constant companion. You will see my raw work here, including quick pencil studies, experimental alcohol marker drawings of city life, and the process of sketching realistic features like eyes or still-life subjects like pears. These are the results of my 100-day practice challenges that I do to ensure my lines stay sharp.

Every piece requires a different 'kamar kasna' or process of bracing myself to get the detail right. When I practice charcoal shading on a horse or refine the texture of a shoe, I am building the muscle memory needed for your commissioned portraits. Most pieces are created on 200 GSM paper or archival Bristol to ensure they last. If you like a specific technique you see in these pages, tell me. We can use this exact charcoal-heavy style for your portrait or that vibrant marker style for a custom streetscape. Everything is framed and ready to hang. Let us talk about the size and medium that works for your space.
