About In the Studio: Mentorship & Technique
It is one thing to learn the theory of ink flow and voltage, but it is another to see it happen in a live environment. When you train with us, you are not stuck in a quiet lecture hall. You are shadowing real sessions, seeing how we handle skin, manage client nerves, and maintain hygiene in a working shop. This is about building the instinctual confidence you can only get by standing next to an artist while they work.
Training in a Real Studio
We do not believe in textbook learning. You learn at Zeppelin Tattoos because you need to understand the reality of the industry. We cover everything from the basic mechanics of rotary versus coil machines to the nuanced art of grey-wash mixing. You learn the vibe, the workflow, and the culture of a professional shop.
The Comprehensive Tattoo Course (3-4 Months)
This beginner program is designed to take you from a pencil sketch to your first live skin execution. We provide the starter gear, teach you the fundamentals of sketching, shadow theory, and essential safety protocols like OSHA-standard sterilization. You will spend extensive hours on synthetic skin focusing on line work stability, whip shading, and color packing before you ever touch a client. The course concludes with a final exam where you tattoo a volunteer under our direct supervision.
Advanced Realism & Shading Workshop (2 Weeks)
For artists already in the game, our two-week intensive focuses on specific skill gaps. Whether you are struggling with 3D texturing, smooth gradients in black and grey realism, or want to master needle depth for complex sleeves, this is true mentorship. You get live shadowing of our sessions, portfolio critiques, and honest feedback on your photography, lighting, and workflow. This module covers consumables, but you must bring your own machine kit.
What You Will Master
- Mechanics: Voltage settings, needle depth, and machine handling.
- Hygiene: Strict protocols for studio safety and waste disposal.
- Design: Custom stencil creation and digital design on Procreate.
- Client Management: Handling consultations and professional situations.
