About Desi Radiance: Traditional Indian Maternity
Draping a saree or lehenga when you are expecting requires specific attention to ensure you feel secure and comfortable. During these sessions, I personally help with the styling, pinning, and pleating, ensuring your outfit highlights your bump beautifully without restricting your movement. This means you can focus on the gentle glow of your pregnancy while we capture those quiet, traditional moments.
There is something inherently special about capturing a pregnancy through the lens of our Indian heritage. Whether it is the intricate weave of a Paithani saree or the soft, warm glow of a traditional diya during a shot, these elements bring a sense of belonging and nostalgia to your photos.
My studio in Powai is set up to handle these traditional sessions with the same soft, natural light that defines my aesthetic. We combine the richness of traditional Indian fabrics with the minimalist, clean backdrops I love, ensuring the focus remains entirely on you and your growing family.
What to consider for your traditional session:
- Wardrobe choices: You are welcome to bring your own cherished sarees or heirloom jewelry. If you are unsure about what works, we can discuss fabric textures that photograph well under studio lighting.
- The posing process: Traditional Indian maternity photography often involves seated poses or specific angles to showcase jewelry and fabric patterns. I guide you through each pose so you do not feel stiff, keeping the session relaxed and slow.
- Including family: If you want your partner or older children involved in the traditional theme, we can certainly coordinate outfits to match the color palette of your saree or lehenga for a cohesive look.
My goal is to create portraits that feel like future family heirlooms, stripping away the clutter to focus on the love and anticipation you are experiencing right now.
