Passages, Lobbies & Stairs: Sculptural Home Transitions
Transitions define the rhythm of a home. We treat every staircase, lobby, and corridor as a sculptural opportunity to connect spaces with seamless material flow.
The staircase in the Maximum City Duplex is a sculptural element crafted from teak and brass. We integrated hidden storage into its design, perfectly blending beauty with smart, functional planning.

Looking down the staircase in the Maximum City Duplex, the brass railings and wooden steps create a warm and elegant composition, guided by a cascade of modern pendant lights.

This impressive dog-legged staircase in the House of Terraces is clad entirely in rich Burma teak, serving as a central, grounding feature that connects all floors of the villa.

The entrance to the House of Terraces features a striking coffered wooden ceiling. This detail immediately establishes a sense of warmth, craftsmanship, and architectural integrity.
In the West Coast Residence, the hallway is treated as a gallery. A polished marble inlay on the floor defines the path, while the walls are used to display the client's collection of contemporary Indian art.

About Passages, Lobbies & Stairs
A passage should never just be a corridor. In our projects, we often integrate hidden storage or fluted glass partitions to convert these dead spaces into functional galleries. Whether it is a staircase that serves as a sculptural centerpiece or a lobby that balances privacy with an invitation to enter, we ensure every transition feels intentional.
Movement through a home should be an experience, not a necessity. We approach the architecture of circulation as a way to enhance the spatial narrative of a residence.
Sculptural Staircases
A staircase is often the physical heart of a home. In projects like the Maximum City Duplex, we designed a dog-legged staircase using recycled Burma teak and brass. By integrating hidden storage into the structure and pairing it with a curved, wood-paneled niche, we removed the clutter while elevating the utility of the area. The grain of the wood and the geometric lines of the railings create a focal point that demands attention without shouting.
Light-Filled Hallways
Dark, narrow corridors are a common issue in many city apartments. We solve this by using light as a design tool. In our Limestone Residence project, we utilized fluted glass doors and strategic skylights to pull natural light into internal passages. This technique allows us to brighten landlocked spaces, making them feel airy and connected to the rest of the home.
The Gallery Approach
We view hallways as opportunities to display character. At the West Coast Residence, we treated the passage as a gallery, using a polished marble inlay to define the path and wall space to highlight the client's contemporary art collection. By focusing on material integrity—using solid wood stools, fluted glass, and precise joinery—we transform what is essentially a transit zone into a contemplative space.
