Therapeutic Yoga for Back and Shoulder Pain Relief
Struggling with sciatica or office-related stiffness? I help you find natural relief through safe, prop-supported therapeutic yoga sessions.
This video demonstrates a partner-assisted stretch for upper back pain relief. Using a strap, I help the student to open her shoulders and release tension.
This exercise, using a strap, is designed to provide instant relief from back pain. We teach our students how to use props and partner work for therapeutic benefits.
About Yoga for Healing: Aches & Pains
You do not need to be flexible to start healing. In my sessions, we use simple props like straps and chairs to safely release deep-seated tension in the upper back and shoulders. Think of it as a guided release rather than a strenuous workout. I show you exactly how to support your body so you can move without pain, even if you are just starting your journey.
For many of my students, back and shoulder stiffness is a direct result of long hours spent at a desk. The body tightens, breathing becomes shallow, and pain sets in. You do not need to struggle through intense poses to fix this. My approach focuses on finding steadiness and comfort, what we call Sthira Sukham Asanam.
We utilize the Iyengar technique of using props like ropes, blocks, and chairs, allowing gravity and support to do the work, not your willpower.
How We Address Your Pain
- Targeted Relief: We address specific pain points like sciatica, lumbar stiffness, and cervical tension.
- Safe Stretching: Straps and chairs allow for deep stretches without strain, making this safe for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.
- The 30-Day Goal: While relief often happens quickly, I emphasize consistent practice over a 30-day period to reset your posture and build sustainable strength.
- Holistic Approach: We combine these movements with Pranayama to manage the stress that often accompanies chronic pain.
Whether you are practicing with me at our studio in Rishikesh or Delhi, the goal remains the same: reclaiming your movement. I guide you step-by-step, ensuring you understand your limits, and we never force a position. If you can breathe, you can practice.
