Mehndi for me is ibadat. Whether it is Lord Krishna or Shiv-Parvati, I craft divine portraits with devotion, capturing expressions that hold deep spiritual significance for your special day.

A portrait of Lord Krishna, created with devotion. I guide my students on how to achieve the calm and loving expression that is so central to his image.

The complete Shiv-Parvati design, a symbol of divine love and partnership. Learning to create such portraits is a journey in both art and spirituality.

About Divine Art: Deity Portraits

Drawing deity portraits freehand requires immense patience. When I sketch Krishna or Shiv-Parvati on a palm, I focus entirely on the facial expression and symmetry because these figures must look serene. It is not just about the lines; it is about respecting the sanctity of the image, which is why I use my own organic henna mix to ensure the stain is dark, rich, and lasting.

The Process of Divine Art

For me, drawing a deity is a form of meditation. When a bride requests a portrait of Krishna or Shiv-Parvati, it is not a routine design. I prepare by understanding the specific posture and expression the client wants. It requires a steady hand and a deep focus that only comes with years of practice.

My Technique for Deity Portraits

Unlike standard floral patterns, portraits demand perfect anatomy. Whether it is the curve of a flute or the third eye of Shiva, every detail matters. I teach these advanced portrait techniques in my workshops because they represent the peak of bridal mehndi artistry.

  • Anatomy: I focus on side profiles and front-facing expressions to ensure the face looks natural, not distorted.
  • Shading: I use 3D shading techniques to give the figures depth and lifelike quality.
  • Materials: I exclusively use 100% organic Rajasthani Sojat henna. This is non-negotiable. It ensures the portrait stains a deep maroon, which highlights the fine details of the face and clothing.

I am Vivek, and I have been turning palms into canvases since 2013. For me, Mehndi is ibadat, not just a service. Every portrait I draw is my way of offering respect to the art and to the Guruji who guided me.
