Scar Revision and Resurfacing
Scars do not define you, but they can be treated. I use medical-grade CO2 laser and surgical revision to smooth skin texture, not just hide it.
This powerful before-and-after shows the result of an earlobe keloid surgery. The procedure involved careful surgical removal of the excessive scar tissue to completely restore the ear's natural shape.
A demonstration of our CO2 laser, the gold standard for treating acne scars and improving skin texture. The laser penetrates the skin to stimulate new collagen, effectively smoothing out indented scars and large pores.
An informational graphic confirming that acne scars can be effectively treated. At the clinic, we offer multiple solutions, including laser resurfacing and other minor surgical procedures, to help you regain smooth skin.
This graphic provides information on keloid scars, which are a form of abnormal scarring. I treat keloids with a multi-modal approach, often combining injections, laser therapy, and surgical removal for the best outcome.
About Scar Revision & Resurfacing
When you come in for scar revision, I do not jump straight to laser. First, I assess if your scars are fibrotic or atrophic. If they are tethered down, laser alone will not work, as we need subcision to release those fibrous bands first. This is how I ensure the surface actually heals smooth, rather than just damaging the top layer for no result.
Scarring is a complex issue because the biology of the scar dictates the success of the treatment. Whether it is an old acne scar or a raised keloid, the approach must be specific to the tissue involved. In my clinic, I focus on a multi-modal strategy.
My Approach to Scars
- Subcision: For depressed acne scars that look tethered to the skin, I use a specialized Nokor needle to release the fibrous bands beneath the scar. This allows the skin to lift and even out.
- CO2 Fractional Laser: Once the skin is prepped, I use a CO2 fractional laser. This creates microscopic columns of injury that trigger the body’s natural collagen production, effectively resurfacing the skin and smoothing out irregular textures.
- Intralesional Injections: For raised scars like keloids or hypertrophic scars, I use corticosteroid injections or 5-FU to flatten the tissue. This stops the excessive growth and allows the area to settle back toward the natural skin level.
Clinical Standards
My procedures take place in a dedicated sterile operation theatre. For laser sessions, I apply topical numbing cream for 30 to 45 minutes to ensure your comfort. I also include post-procedure care with specific wound management instructions to prevent hyperpigmentation, especially in Indian skin types. My goal is always to treat the scar safely and effectively, keeping your long-term skin health as the priority.
