About DIY Shampoos, Conditioners & Rinses
Most commercial shampoos rely on harsh sulphates that strip your natural oils, leaving hair dry and brittle. Instead of buying off the shelf, I use fresh carrot juice mixed with aloe vera and a gentle cleanser base to clean my scalp without compromising hair health. It is a simple swap, but it makes a massive difference in how my hair feels and grows over time.
Commercial products often contain artificial fragrances and preservatives that irritate the scalp, especially for those of us with sensitive skin. My recipes are different because they are fresh and transparent.
Why I Switch to DIY
- No Stripping: My herbal shampoos, like the ones I make with reetha and shikakai, remove oil effectively without stripping the natural sebum your scalp needs to stay healthy.
- Fresh Ingredients: Whether it is carrot juice for thickness, hibiscus for cooling, or rice water for shine, you are putting nutrients directly onto your hair follicles.
- Customizable: If your scalp is oily, we increase the reetha content. If it is dry, we focus on aloe vera and rice water. You can adjust the potency based on what your hair is asking for that week.
My Go-To Methods
I focus on techniques that are easy to do in any kitchen. I use rice water rinses to strengthen the strands and aloe vera-based conditioners to manage frizz. My videos break down exactly how to prepare these without expensive equipment. You only need a mixer, a strainer, and consistent practice to see the results. Hair care is a lifestyle, and once you start making your own rinses and cleansers, you will notice a difference in texture within just a few weeks.
