About this collection
I don't just start drawing directly on your hands. Most of these intricate designs—from the palace architecture for bridal pieces to the Pichwai elephants—start right here in my sketchbook. Practicing on paper helps me refine the proportions and ensure the layout is perfect, so there is no guesswork when I pick up the henna cone on your wedding day.
Many people think mehndi is purely about being in the flow, but for me, it is about preparation. Whether it is a specific venue skyline for a bridal piece or a cute baby carriage for a shower, testing these on paper ensures the final result is clean and precise. I spend time layering traditional Indian elements—like jhumka motifs and shehnai patterns—to see how they sit together before finalizing a design.
This sketchbook is also the foundation of what I teach in my Ghatkopar classes. Students who come to learn often start by copying these sheets because mastering the anatomy of a peacock or the curves of a mandala requires muscle memory. By keeping this practice going, I can easily adapt to requests for custom elements, like incorporating your wedding venue, family portraits, or specific ritual depictions into your henna. Whether you want a minimalist Arabic design or a heavy, dense bridal story, the process begins here, ensuring your final look is both balanced and beautiful.
