About Karnataka's Monsoon Magic (Malnad & Uttara Kannada)
Monsoon trekking here is not just a walk; it means navigating muddy trails, sudden rain, and 4x4 jeep rides to reach the deeper falls. I handle all the permits and local jeep hires so your only job is to handle the slippery rocks and enjoy the authentic Malnad food we pack for the trail.
When I say monsoon magic, I mean the real deal—roaring waterfalls, misty roads, and that specific earthy scent of the forest after a downpour. Over the last 15 years, I have explored the deep corners of Sakleshpura, Chikmagalur, and the dense jungles of Uttara Kannada.
My treks are for those who want to see the Western Ghats beyond the tourist maps. We will cross streams using ropes, walk through paddy fields, and maybe even get our vehicle stuck in the mud—that is part of the monsoon adventure. I don't believe in strict schedules. We move at nature's pace because 'prana mukya' (life is important) always comes first.
What to expect on the trail:
- Authentic Local Vibes: We eat what the locals eat—think steaming hot Neer Dosa or rice balls after a long trek. It is comfort food that hits the spot when you are soaked from the rain.
- Safety First: I carry first aid, we use life jackets for swimming in natural pools, and I keep a close watch on water levels. If the weather looks dangerous, we change the plan. No ego, just safety.
- Hidden Gems: From the Aghanashini valley to the trails near Bettada Bhairaveshwara temple, we go where the crowds are not.
This is not a luxury resort stay. It is about getting muddy, feeling the cold rain, and respecting the forest. If you are ready for some 'huchchu' (madness) for nature, pack your raincoats and come join the gang.
