Trade the city traffic for coffee estate mornings. These stays aren't just hotels; they are the heart of Malnad, where you wake up to birds, rain, and simple, authentic local life.

A real Malnad breakfast experience. A group of trekkers sitting on the floor and enjoying hot idlis, sambar, and chutney in a traditional homestay.

After a cold trek, nothing beats hot tea and some crispy mandakki (puffed rice). This is the simple, comforting food that refuels us.

Our group with the local family who hosted us. Staying in these traditional houses and interacting with the local people is a key part of our trips.

Freshly cut pineapple served on a banana leaf. Simple, natural, and incredibly delicious snacks after a tiring trek.

A jackfruit tree laden with fruit. On our treks, we are surrounded by the bounty of nature.

A traditional Malnad house with a tiled roof, nestled amidst the greenery. This is the kind of authentic accommodation we provide.

Another beautiful, rustic homestay. These places have a charm and warmth that you won't find in any hotel.

Sharing a cup of black tea with friends at a homestay. These are the relaxed moments of bonding and conversation.

A selfie with our local host and guide. These are the people who make our trips possible with their hospitality and knowledge.

A group photo in front of a beautiful, large homestay in the middle of a coffee estate. The perfect base for our adventures.

About Authentic Stays & Local Flavours

You will not find fancy, white-tablecloth resort service here. Instead, you'll be sitting on the floor in a traditional Malnad home, sharing hot, freshly cooked Neer Dosa and spicy curry prepared by our local hosts in their own kitchen. This is the heart of our trips—real, authentic, and completely connected to the village lifestyle.

Adventure is not just about the trail; it is about where you lay your head after a day of trekking. For me, the best part of any trip is the 'home' side of the homestay. We avoid commercial resorts whenever possible because that experience doesn't capture the spirit of the Western Ghats.

What makes a stay 'authentic'?

  • Traditional Living: You will stay in typical Malnad-style houses with tiled roofs, nestled right inside or near coffee plantations in places like Sakleshpura and Chikmagalur.
  • Home-Cooked Food: Forget standardized buffet menus. You get authentic Malnad cuisine. Think steaming rice balls (kadubu), fresh chutney, spicy curries, and jackfruit dishes when in season. This is food made with local ingredients, not mass-produced meals.
  • The Vibe: It is simple. Expect shared rooms or dormitories, clean basic restrooms, and the warmth of a wood fire in the morning. It is not about luxury amenities; it is about waking up to the sound of rain, mist, and the calls of birds instead of car horns.

Why this matters

When we travel to places like Virajpet or the forests of Uttara Kannada, we are guests in the villagers' homes. Interacting with our local hosts—the people who actually own these lands—is part of the adventure. You learn about the coffee cycle, the local fauna, and the reality of living in the Ghats.

We keep the logistics simple. Whether you are camping under the stars during a monsoon trek or staying in a homestay, everything is managed so you do not have to worry. If you are coming with a group, we tailor the stay to your specific group vibe. Some of you want the quietest corners to read, others want a common space to bond over tea. We make it happen.

I have spent 15 years chasing the wild, and I believe the best stories happen around a dining table in a Malnad home. I don't just organize trips; I share my second home with you, ensuring you experience the true rhythm of the Western Ghats.
