Experience the traditional Mysore method, where you learn to practice at your own pace with personal guidance, building strength and stillness breath by breath.

A glimpse into our Mysore style class. In this self-paced environment, you learn the sequence pose by pose, with an emphasis on correct breathing (Ujjayi), postures (asana), and gaze points (drishti).

The Mysore method allows for personalized instruction within a group class. This ensures you can progress safely and effectively, adapting the practice to your body's needs each day.

Hands-on adjustments are a key part of the Mysore practice. Here, I am helping students find deeper alignment and understanding in Parsvottanasana (Pyramid Pose).

Assisting a student in Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (One-Legged King Pigeon Pose). These adjustments help to safely explore the body's potential and deepen the expression of a pose.

In our Mysore room, each student moves through their own practice. This method helps you memorize the sequence and build a strong, independent yoga journey.

The beauty of a Mysore room is the shared energy of individual focus. Everyone is on their own journey, yet breathing and moving together in a flow of meditative practice.

Celebrating progress in backbending. With consistent practice and guidance, students can safely work towards challenging postures like Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel Pose) drop-backs.

From standing poses to inversions, the Mysore practice is a complete journey. Here, I am providing support to ensure stability and proper form.

About The Mysore Practice: Your Personal Yoga Journey

In our Mysore classes, you aren't just following a group; you are practicing a sequence tailored to your own body. While we move and breathe together in the studio, each student receives specific, hands-on adjustments. Whether you are working on your first Sun Salutation or a complex inversion, you move at the pace that makes sense for you that day.

The Mysore method is a self-paced, traditional way of learning Ashtanga. Instead of a teacher leading every movement, you learn the sequence bit by bit, memorizing postures under our guidance. This approach is not about rushing to the next asana; it is about building a sustainable, injury-free practice that you can carry with you for years.

Lineage and Tradition

We teach Ashtanga as shared by Shri Sharath Jois. This lineage provides a stable, proven structure, allowing you to focus on the technical details and internal experience of the movement rather than just the visual result. If you are new to the mat, do not worry about being ready. Many students join us without knowing a single pose. We start simple—focusing on breath, bandhas, and drishti. Over weeks and months, we add postures based on your individual readiness.

Practical Details

Our studio in Greater Kailash is air-conditioned with marble flooring, providing a clean, quiet space to drop the noise of the city. We provide props like blocks and straps, so you just need to bring yourself. Note that in line with tradition, we observe Moon Days, when the studio remains closed. Whether you are a total beginner or a seasoned practitioner, our morning sessions offer a consistent space to show up, do the work, and find your rhythm.

When I started The Shala, I wanted a place that felt more like a home than a studio. Here, we embrace the messiness of being human, keeping our practice rooted in tradition while making space for you to simply show up, breathe, and grow.
