Public Events & Street Photography: Candid Human Stories
I see the world through a lens that seeks the honest, unscripted moment. From the disciplined lines of parade rehearsals to the quiet life along the Yamuna Ghat, I document the reality that others might miss.
The intensity and discipline of our armed forces are truly inspiring. This close-up of a soldier during a parade rehearsal captures the powerful command and pride in his expression, a testament to his dedication.
Amidst the formal lines of the parade, I look for human moments. The faint smile on this soldier's face, shared with her comrades from the Assam Rifles, adds a layer of personality and warmth to the disciplined event.
This black and white shot emphasizes the discipline and unity of the soldiers on a foggy Delhi morning. The lack of color draws attention to their expressions and the sharp lines of their formation during the parade rehearsal.
A different perspective on the parade. This high-angle, black and white photograph focuses on the pattern of the white caps, creating an abstract and artistic view of the marching contingent.
The military band sets the rhythm for the entire parade. I captured the band master leading his section, with the drums and bagpipes creating a powerful visual and auditory experience on a misty morning at India Gate.
The tools of discipline. This photograph shows rifles laid out in perfect formation on the ground, mirroring the precision of the soldiers who carry them. It's a detail that speaks volumes about the preparation behind the parade.
This video reel gives you a feel of being right there at the Republic Day parade rehearsal. It shows the various contingents, from the marching soldiers to the musicians, capturing the grand scale and atmosphere of the event.
About this collection
When I shoot public events or street scenes, I do not ask people to pose. I carry my Nikon setup to the front lines of parade rehearsals or the banks of the Yamuna, waiting for that split second where discipline meets emotion. I focus on the candid look in a soldier's eye or the simple rhythm of daily life because that is where the real story lives.
My Approach to Visual Storytelling
Photography, for me, is not just about pressing a button. It is about understanding the nazariya, or perspective, of the situation. Whether I am covering a grand event like a Republic Day parade rehearsal or walking through the streets of Bihar and Delhi to document everyday life, I look for the humanity in the chaos.
Documentary & Event Photography
Public events require a specific kind of patience. You cannot control the environment, so you must anticipate it. I use full-frame Nikon cameras with fast lenses to ensure that even in the misty morning fog of a Delhi winter, the expressions of the participants remain sharp and clear. My goal is to deliver images that feel like a memory, not just a document.
- Field Expertise: I have covered everything from parade contingents to street-level life, understanding how to manage crowds and changing light.
- Technical Reliability: I rely on professional-grade gear (Nikon Z6ii/750) and off-camera flash techniques to get the right look, whether it is a bright midday street shot or a dimly lit rehearsal.
- The Human Element: I believe that behind every uniform or routine is a person. I spend time framing my shots to highlight individual personality, like the camaraderie within a military contingent or the contemplation of a local resident.
If you have a project that requires a raw, honest perspective—be it a brand launch, a public event, or a personal documentary series—my team and I are ready to hit the streets. We provide a full package, including high-resolution edits that are ready for press or personal use, delivered with the same heart I put into every frame.
Pranav Prabhakar
I am Pranav, and for me, the camera is just a tool to capture the 'yaadon ka silsila' — the chain of memories we leave behind. I prefer to observe the scene rather than direct it, which is why my style leans heavily into raw, unfiltered photojournalism.
